13° Capricorn: the critical degree of words and choices

13° Capricorn sits in the second decan of Venus, under the term of Jupiter, with a Gemini dwad that brings curiosity, useful exchanges, a need for variety. This degree has the quickness of an air sign in an earth body: it reads, connects, compares and negotiates with a dexterity that surprises in a sign reputed to be austere. It hates administrative boredom, but excels at practical arrangements, tightly drawn contracts and the right turn of phrase.

A Sun at 13° Capricorn marries seriousness and humor: you can run a heavy file while joking, and your address book grows effortlessly. The Moon here needs to talk to understand what it feels and to learn in order to feel safe. Venus shines here through negotiation, and Mars acts fast but diversifies its fields. An Ascendant at 13° Capricorn comes across as lively, well-informed and pleasant, its reserve hiding a lot of curiosity.

This degree is one of the critical degrees of the cardinal signs, along with 0° and 26°: tradition holds them to be points of tension, where the planet lives events more intensely, with a turning-point at stake. A planet placed at 13° Capricorn often signals an area where you don’t stay quiet for long: changes of course, decisions to make, sudden realizations. It is not a curse, it is a point of awakening that asks you to engage with it rather than endure it.

Your lever is to decide with method. When an important choice comes up, put it in writing, list what you gain and what you risk, ask a trusted person for their view, then decide within a set deadline. Use the quickness of Gemini to explore and the rigor of Saturn to conclude. This degree progresses each time it turns agitation into information, and information into a clear decision.
