Your birth data
How it works, in three sentences
- 1
The Sun comes back
At your birth the Sun occupied a precise degree of the zodiac. Every year it passes there again, within a few hours of your birthday: that is the solar return.
- 2
We draw the chart of that moment
As for a birth chart, we compute every planet and the houses at the exact minute of the return, for the place where you are.
- 3
We read it with your chart
The rising sign of the year sets the tone, the Sun’s house the central domain, the Moon the emotional climate. Laid over your natal chart, it shows where the year settles in your life.
Frequently asked questions
What is a solar return?
The chart drawn at the exact moment the Sun returns, every year, to the degree it occupied at your birth. It describes the dynamic of the year opening at that birthday: tone, central domain, emotional climate.
Why isn’t the return exactly on my birthday?
The civil year has 365 days, the solar year 365.2422: the return drifts by a few hours each year and is reset by leap years. It can fall the day before or after your birthday.
Birthplace or current location?
The majority tradition uses the place where you are at the moment of the return. This calculator uses your birthplace; if you celebrate your birthday elsewhere, the rising sign of the year may change, and the written reading uses the place you indicate.
How is this different from the €29 year-ahead reading?
The free calculation gives the chart and a rule-based express reading. The year-ahead reading is a written 15 to 20 page interpretation: the year’s chart read on its own then laid over the natal chart, the major transits, a month-by-month calendar, all read and validated by an astrologer.
