8° Taurus: a critical degree, pride put to the test

With 8° Taurus, the term changes hands: Mercury takes over from Venus, while the 1st decan stays sub-ruled by Venus and the dwad moves to Leo. The result is a Taurus that needs to be seen, applauded, recognized, while keeping the sign’s appetite and realism. You can feel the pride of the cook, the craftsperson or the artist who knows the value of their work and wants it acknowledged.

For a planet placed here, this degree gives presence and panache. A Sun at 8° Taurus has style and a quiet authority; a Moon here wants to be admired by loved ones; Venus loves generously, makes grand gestures, but hates indifference; Mars defends its honor with stubbornness. The Ascendant offers a carriage of the head, a polished style, a simple luxury that draws the eye immediately.

Your key to growth is learning to receive recognition without begging for it. Trust the quality of what you give and let time do its part: the compliments tend to arrive when you’ve stopped expecting them. To get through this degree well, choose work you’re proud of and carry it out rigorously until the result speaks for you.

This degree is one of the critical degrees, according to the tradition that defines them by modality: for the fixed signs, these are points where the sign is at stake, where the energy is tighter and more strained. It isn’t a fate but a point of vigilance and intensity: a planet here asks to be used consciously. Hamal, at 7°57′ Taurus, is within a degree, of a Mars-Saturn nature, and strengthens tenacity and combativeness.
